Seattle to Portland - STP 2007

Captain America & Birddog

Bits, Red Hot, & The Fire Cracker.

We met up at the U of Washington at 6:30am for the start of our 200 mile long bike ride to Portland Oregon. We weren't alone, there were a total of 9,000 riders including one skateboarder.

Bike on! Portland or Bust! We busted a few times...

1st flat: Captain America, at mile .4

2ndflat: Captain Amercia, at mile 48

3rd flat: Red Hot, at mile 88

During our third tire change I checked in with our support crew, Sweet Mamma & Gamebro, they were in Chehalis setting up the tents for us. What a great feeling it was to pull into camp after biking 109 miles to see our tents up, bottles of cold water, giant bottles of Gatorade, chilled beer, candy bars, chips and our bike team sweaty, hot, tired, hungry, hurt'n, all with smiles from ear to ear. Biking is a good thing, our support crew was a GREAT thing!

Birddog tries to eat the largest egg in the world in Winlock.

"The Bridge" Welcome to Oregon!
not so fast. Birddogs bike broke 12 miles from our finish line in Portland. Bummer. or Not a bummer? McGyverbits to the rescue; electrical tape, twist ties, 2 spare tubes and a tow.

look closely and you'll see the spare tube stretching from my bike, I pulled Birdy 8 miles to the finish line! I did need his help getting up those 2 crazy hills, what up wit the hills Portland?

Tow-tally cool. We had a great welcoming committee at the finish line!

Unbelievable! 200 miles-We Did It!!!! We might even do it again next year. Fire Cracker and Birddog will ride to Portland in One Day! I say why hurry a such a nice ride? Captain America, Red Hot, myself and a few other biker buds will enjoy the 2 day ride, and even sleep in a tent again maybe?!

look here for more STP information from the Cascade Bicycle Club, you can do it too!!!
